Job Summary

Join our Quantum Research team as a Research Scientist and stand at the cutting edge of bringing quantum computing from theory to real-world impact. We are searching for an expert to drive research in quantum algorithms and simulations in chemistry—working hand-in-hand with leading companies and universities to unlock breakthrough applications. As part of a fast-moving scale-up, you will enjoy the flexibility to explore bold ideas, the autonomy to turn them into publishable results, and the satisfaction of seeing your work shape next-generation technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conceive and execute research projects on quantum algorithms and simulations that address industrial and academic challenges.
  • Implement, benchmark, and optimize quantum-classical workflows (e.g., VQE, QPE, hybrid variational methods) using Python and QunaSys software stacks.
  • Collaborate across disciplines—chemistry, physics, materials science, engineering—to translate theoretical advances into demonstrable solutions.
  • Publish findings in top-tier journals and present at international conferences; represent QunaSys in the global research community.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD (or equivalent) in chemistry, physics, or quantum information science
  • Work authorization: Permanent residence and the right to work in the EU/EEA/UK (Denmark preferred).
  • Demonstrated expertise in first-principles / ab-initio methods (e.g., quantum chemistry, DFT, many-body techniques) and/or in condensed-matter physics; experience in battery or catalyst modeling is a strong plus.
  • Professional experience in project delivery—planning, executing, and successfully handing over research or software projects to stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to translate research ideas into code—proficient in Python, Julia or C++; familiarity with HPC or quantum SDKs is a plus.
  • Publication track record and experience drafting manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills: able to present research at international venues and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Self-motivated, curious, and eager to continually learn new methods and technologies.
  • Professional proficiency in English; additional languages are an advantage.
  • Willingness to accommodate occasional meetings or travel across time zones.

Preferred Extras

  • Experience leading or coordinating research projects and mentoring junior colleagues.
  • Post-doctoral or industrial research experience.
  • Hands-on knowledge of quantum computing frameworks (Qiskit, Cirq, QunaSys QURI Parts, etc.).
  • Familiarity with version-control and collaborative software development (Git/GitHub).
  • Ability to write clean code.
  • Track record of successful industry-academia collaborations.

What We Offer

  • A front-row seat in one of the world’s most dynamic quantum-computing scale-ups, headquartered in Copenhagen with hubs in London, Paris, Amsterdam, and Barcelona.
  • Flexible, hybrid working arrangements that fit your lifestyle.
  • Competitive compensation, equity options, and support for conference travel and professional development.
  • A diverse, inclusive culture where your ideas shape the company’s trajectory.
